Good afternoon, family of faith! What a pleasure it is to be able to write to you today. This past Sunday Pastor gave a sermon on having a hope-filled heart. I would like to share a verse from the daily devotional that goes along with the Just Like Jesus book by Max Lucado.

“Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.” Romans 5:3-5

We were not promised to have a life without suffering. But we were promised that Jesus would show us the way if we only look to the Bible for His guidance. Our character is built by the way we handle our suffering. This year has been rough, a challenge. God has kept His promise to be with us through it all. Each day I notice how things have evolved over the last year or so. Education has changed in many ways, and I can see many people more understanding of a teacher’s role. I witnessed more people offering help by leaving things on porches or offering to deliver bags of clothes to those who needed it. We can absolutely focus on all of the negative of this world, but when we keep hope and focus our eyes on God, we can see all of the good there is amidst this challenging time.

And only because I have your ear...Can you write? Wonderful! I would love for more submissions for our monthly newsletter. I know our members would love to hear from others within our congregation. Please submit any articles or ideas to me by the 15th of each month. :)

Lord, in our moments of discomfort and suffering, please bring us hope, let us see hope in You. Help us to always keep our focus on rejoicing for what you have given us. Amen.
Kelli
