Lose Your Life

“For those who want to save their life will lose it, and those who lose their life for my sake will find it.” Matthew 16:25 (NRSV)

Read Matthew 16:21-28. 

It is the eighteen chapter of the Gospel of Matthew before Jesus foretells his own suffering, death and resurrection. No one wants to hear about a friend or teacher going through suffering or hardship. Peter tries to change this prediction. “God forbid it, Lord” (Matthew 16:22 NRSV) Peter does not want this to happen to Jesus.
