Friends:
Sunday was a day that we will mark in history as a watershed moment! Watershed means "turning point" or a day where we gathered in the name of Christ to discuss our future. The congregation voted to stay in our present building and pray and come together looking for new ways of doing ministry.
Now, more than ever, no matter which way you voted, it is important for us to come together as a family of faith to "fight the good fight of faith" (as Paul urged his friend Timothy in 1 Tim 6:12).
In the Annual Meeting we elected a new Council member in Jim Patton, and said thank you to Suzy Henschen who goes off Council. We thank Suzy for her years of service as we also thanked husband Gary, for his years of serving on the property team. We thanked Brad for his financial leadership as Finance Chair and welcomed Lisa McKibban to take his position. Brad pledges to stay involved and we all appreciate all of these folks!
God is present with us; God will lead us in the way we should go! God will go beside us to encourage us, behind us to catch us when we fall, and is with us in Christ. The futuer is bright, head up, heart open friends as I said Sunday morning. Remember what else I said repeating the Mission Statement of Excellence in Leadership program: "Developing leaders freed from fear, freed to love..."
We are free from fear (even though fear comes, on the other side is love and grace!) and free to love. Amen. Thank you to everyone who helped put the meal together (Jennifer Baker/Jan Smith especially) and to all who came and took part.
