Deacon Marilyn Smith serves St Andrew’s as the Interim Ministry Leader while the Holy Spirit prepares both the congregation and the person that will be called as the next pastor of St Andrew’s.
Deacon Marilyn is a commissioned deacon in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. She has a Bachelor of Science in Education Degree and a Lutheran School Teacher Diploma from Concordia University in Seward, Nebraska and a Master of Arts in Humanities (Biblical Theology and Church History) from the University of Detroit.
She has serve on staff in congregations, was an assistant to a synod bishop for 10 years, and spent 19 years on the ELCA church staff as Coordinator for Missional Leadership in the synods in Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, and Ohio.
Most recently Deacon Marilyn served for a year as the interim ministry leader at Risen Lord Lutheran Church (ELCA) in Bargersville IN. She lives in Carmel with her husband Bill and their two cats, Miriam and Moses.
