The story goes that a party was being planned and everyone was to bring a bottle of red wine. All the wine bottles would be poured into one bowl and everyone could fill their wine glasses from there.
One guy was telling another that he really couldn't afford expensive wine. So he bought cheap red wine and watered it down. Others had the same idea, so when they went to have a glass of this "combined" wine, it tasted horrible because they all watered down the wine!
The point is it's the same in life, you get out of it what you put into it. I would add, it's the same thing at church! Is church boring, long, or uninteresting?
Check and see what you are putting "into" your church worship experience. The Bible passages are preprinted in announcements the week before. Do you read the lessons ahead of time? Attend Wednesday night Bible study?
Are you coming in to church rested and ready to participate? Sometimes our singing, listening to the prayers and sermon makes a difference.
As you come to church, come prayed up, rested, and ready to fully participate.... Then watch what God gives back to you!
