Friends:
"Life Together" is a book by Lutheran Pastor Dietrich Bonhoeffer (1906-1945) a renowned minister and Seminary Professor. He was imprisoned and ultimately executed by the Nazis for his resistance to Hitler.
This book is a classic work on the role of personal prayer, worship in common, everyday work, and Christian service. This book is "bread for all who are hungry for the real life of Christian fellowship." (quote from cover of the book, published by Harper One.)
We are beginning to study this book in Faith Formation, Sunday nights at 7! All are welcomed of course. The upshot of the first chapter is the incredible idea that when Christians come together in fellowship and worship we do so in, with and through Jesus Christ!
Jesus is the reason we gather, the reason we serve, the reason for all of our lives. This Sunday, the 24th, we will again come together for worship and then a congregational meeting to talk together about our future.
No matter which way the Spirit leads us, we all know that Jesus Christ will be at our center, guiding us along, leading us in the way we should go, and encouraging us along the way. Let us pray for our community and the leading of Jesus in our midst.
TOP THREE THINGS TO KNOW FOR THE WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 20TH:
1) Clothes Closet this Saturday, 10-12, at church. Come and help us serve the community.
2) Congregational meeting after church services, the 24th, this Sunday. Come one, come all for this important day in the life of our congregation
3) Order a copy of this book, Life Together and join us Sunday nights and grow in your faith and in fellowship with others from both churches!
God be with you until we meet again!
