Friends:
The new year is off and running as we gathered these two Sundays for the first time in 2023! We have entered into the Epiphany season where we hear the Gospel stories of the early ministry of Jesus. This Epiphany season will link us over to the beginning of Lent, Ash Wednesday, Feb. 22nd.
The church seasons help us walk with Jesus through his life, death on Good Friday, and resurrection on Easter Sunday morning (April 9th this year). After 6 weeks or so of the Easter season, the gift of the Holy Spirit becomes real, and we enter the "ordinary time" season of Pentecost. There are festival Sundays here and there along the way as we journey with Jesus.
We know we do not need a calendar to "journey with Jesus!" The gift of Emmanual (God with us) from Christmas carries us through each day, month, and year. How is your walk with the Lord? Are you a little behind, pushing like crazy to catch up? Or is the Lord way behind you, because you are running from here to there with no time outs allowed. Take some time today, to breath, to slow down, and walk with the Lord! And join your family of faith (with a friend you invite!) and I will see you Sunday for the Second Sunday in Epiphany!
TOP THREE THINGS TO KNOW FOR THE WEEK OF JANUARY 11TH:
1) Congregational annual meeting January 29th, after services. Lunch will be provided, so please plan to stay after service to vote on new Council members, our budget and participate in discussions!
2) Clothes Closet this Saturday, 10-12. We have been busy in that back room last two closets, please come and assist as volunteers are welcomed!
3) Speaking of the number 3! There are three opportunities to study God's Word with others! In person in the library at 10 a.m. before church, Sunday night during Faith Formation at 7, the Wednesday night Bible study also at 7 p.m. (the last two on Zoom). Please join in as everyone is welcomed!
God be with you until we meet again!
