Greetings:

There are many ways to describe what we do in Lutheran worship. We are a liturgical church in that our worship has an order, or a flow.
One way I like to categorize a Lutheran order of worship is :
Gather, Word, Meal, Send.
We have a gathering hymn, confession/absolution, kyrie (means "Lord have mercy"), and then a hymn of praise!
The Word is the reading of Scripture (Old Testament, Psalm, and New Testament) and the preaching of the Gospel. The Meal is all of our Holy Communion liturgy. Starting with the Creed, prayers, passing of peace, and onto the bread and wine.
Once that is completed we are sent out via prayers, blessing and the call to "Go in Peace!" Our service ends but our worship is God never does!
