Reformation Day is this Sunday, October 31 which remembers the "reform" of the church dating back to 1517 when Martin Luther went up to the Castle Church and nailed his 95 theses on the church doors. These were points/issues he wanted to discuss/debate with the Catholic Church. Needless to say, the Pope didn't agree and thus began what we know today to be the separation of Catholics from Protestants (pro-tests).
When we gather Sunday for Word and Sacrament, we will celebrate Martin Luther and what the reformation means to us today. We will hear from John's Gospel, "We shall know the truth and the truth will set us free!" (John 8). This truth is about God's grace and love for all of God's people found in Jesus. Invite a friend or family member to come with you, and wear your red colors!!
To God be the Glory,
Pastor Doug
