I thank you for the many who sent get-well cards, emails and text messages over the last week of my recovery from hernia surgery. My surgeon said the surgery went well and recovery was as expected. As I write this almost a week later, my pain has greatly diminished, and I am thankful to have this all behind me! I deeply appreciate Pr. Rex Jones and Paula Cardoza-Jones for substituting Sunday at church. They did a wonderful job, and I enjoyed viewing as I recovered from surgery.

Hernia surgery seems "awkward" to talk about to some, but it is a pretty common issue for men and women. Simply put, abdominal muscles push through causing discomfort, and the surgeon went in and repaired the area. It was fascinating when he described what he would be doing with these robotic "arms" going in through my stomach at 4-5 different spots (tmi??). Pretty incredible what they can do with surgical technology today.

A highlight came at the same time as  "lowlight" the afternoon of surgery day. I was in pain and some discomfort and texted my Pastor colleague friend Ralph asking for prayers. Ralph called back quickly (even though I texted, lol) and offered support and prayer. It was a beautiful moment and a very special God-send in my journey this past week.

I hope and pray you have someone in your life you can call/text in time of need and when you are in pain: mind, body, soul. Whether you do or not, you can always, always call/text me, and I will respond 24/7! But even more than that, Jesus stands by, not needing to be called or texted, simply to love you, pray for you, and be your healing and hope in all things. This is, indeed, Good News! In this Lenten season, after surgery, and whenever we need God is good, all the time! Amen.

May God bless you on this first day of March! C'mon Spring some 20 days away.
Peace in the pieces of life,
Pr. Doug
