No Condemnation in Christ

“There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” (Romans 8:1 NRSV)

Read Romans 8:1-11

The lectionary texts for the next three weeks are from the eighth chapter of Paul’s letter to the Romans. (The text of Romans 8: 6-11 is also used on the Fourth Sunday in Lent in Year A.) Earlier in his letter, Paul explained what it means to be justified by faith. “Therefore, since we are justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have obtained access to this grace in which we stand….” (Romans 5:1-2 NRSV) Because God chose to act in Jesus Christ, we are the recipients of God’s grace.
